Making Your Vote

After you have read the article, you can vote on how this article affects each companies’ labels who are mentioned in the article. You can select more than one category.

  • A very negative impact on an issue is likely indicated by a direct system change, i.e. a negative change in the way they do business or a change in a way they make a product. This type of impact normally would have very long term affects and reach a large number of people.
  • If a company does something that has an overall negative effect on a particular issue, vote for negative. These are usually single or indirect negative actions rather than larger system changes. Examples may include starting an irresponsible marketing campaign or supporting an event that is associated with human rights violations
  • If a particular company has an overall neutral impact (neither particularly positive or negative) on a particular category, keep your vote at neutral. This can include a company that has to stop their community service program due to financial difficulties; this isn't necessarily negative or positive.
  • If a company does something that has an overall positive effect on a particular issue, vote for positive. These are usually single or indirect positive actions rather than larger system changes. Examples may include donating money to charity or holding a green conference.
  • A very positive impact on an issue is likely indicated by a direct system change, i.e. a positive change in the way they do business or a change in a way they make a product. This type of impact normally would have very long term affects and reach a large number of people.
  • If a particular company does not have an impact on a particular category, keep your vote at no vote.

After you place your vote, you should check to see if your vote was registered properly. If you want to change your vote at any time, simply click “Change Vote”.
