Guide to Adding Articles

Adding the URL

This is pretty straight forward: just copy and paste the URL of the article from your browser’s location bar. If the article already exists, our system should inform you.

Adding the URL

Adding a title

Also very simple: just copy the title of the story or article. If one does not exist, just make one up that is as simple and informative as possible. Our system will suggest articles that look similar to the one you typed in. If any of these articles deal with the same story (in other words, they are the same story, but on a different Web site), please check them off. This will be important so we don’t count a story’s votes more than once.

Adding a title

Adding a source

This should have automatically been added. Only edit this if and only if it is terribly wrong. You will most likely NOT need to edit this.

Adding a source

Choosing a date

This is the date that the article was written, NOT the current date. You can choose the date via the little blue calendar button on the right of the input box. For the sake of accuracy of our Web site, we encourage you to add articles that are fairly recent (within 18 months of current date).

Adding a summary

This will be a short summary of the article. Please keep it as simple and informative as possible. We recommend about 50 words. Usually the first paragraph of the article does a good job of summarizing the story-- don’t be shy to copy it! Keep in mind that this will be used for searching, so try to use relevant words and language.

Adding a summary

Adding a company or companies

List out the companies mentioned in the article, separated by a comma. These companies should be relevant to the main topic of the story since they will be voted upon once they are added. If you start typing the company, our system should suggest the names to you. We recommend you choose from our suggestions so we don’t have duplicate companies under different spellings. Also note that organization and insitutions should NOT be included in this list.
