The Greener Electronics Guide is our way of getting the electronics industry to take responsibility for the entire lifecycle of its products. Greenpeace wants it to face up to the problem of e-waste and take on the challenge of tackling climate change.

Criteria:

  • Precautionary Principle (+0.3)
  • Chemicals Management (+0.3)
  • Timeline for PVC & BFR phaseout (+0.3)
  • Timeline for additional substances phaseout (+0.3)
  • PVC-free and/or BFR-free models (+0.6)
  • Individual producer responsibility (+0.3)
  • Voluntary take-back (+0.3)
  • Information to individual customers (+0.3)
  • Amounts recycled (+0.3)
  • Use of recycled plastic content (+0.3)
  • Global GHG emissions reduction support (+0.3)
  • Carbon Footprint disclosure (+0.3)
  • Own GHG emissions reduction commitment (+0.3)
  • Amounts of renewable energy used (+0.3)
  • Energy efficiency of new models (+0.6)

I think such a guide will prove to be valuable and insightful for both the big and small players in the electronics industry.
